So Who Am I And Why Did I Create This Book ?
Hi, I'm David!
I'm a passionate music aficionado, and have been a professional performing guitarist & educator for over a two decades.
We probably have a lot more in common than you think...
Contrary to what you might think, I wasn't a "natural", and learning guitar didn't come easy to me. I come from a non-musical family, and was a "lost guitar dabbler" for many years in my teenage years.
I took years of lessons with nothing to show for it! 😬
Thankfully I didn't quit. I was determined, but passion and determination without the proper guidance isn't always enough.
When I discovered Spanish Guitar, it opened up a new passion for the instrument. It led me through a rollercoaster of some phases of major progress and some phases of stunted progress because of bad mentors. But after putting together the best strategies from my favorite lessons and mentors, and getting disciplined, it was finally game on!
I'm the poster child for "If I can do it, then anyone can!" Literally....
What Chord Is That?
When I started my guitar journey, I remember the excitement of discovering a new Spanish Guitar chord. It was so exciting when I'd play a new variation and I could tell it was from one of my favorite Gipsy Kings songs. Or when someone would show me a new chord progression, and I would recognize it from a traditional Flamenco palo I heard before.
I created this book because I wish I had a handy guide like this back then! It's exactly what I would have wanted. Instead of learning a random new chord or progression here and there, or through expensive private lessons, I would have loved to have had a practical chord library by my side. Yes, we had chord books back then...lol. But none of them were made specifically with the Spanish Guitarist in mind.
